| WEEK 6 |
| QUARTERBACKS - Brian Griese's elbow will have him out for week 6. Jeff Garcia gets the nod and is a borderline QB2. Jon Kitna had an MRI on his back and will be out for this week's game. Dan Orlovsky is first in line followed by Drew Stanton. The Lions offense is in disarray, so locate better options. J.P. Losman filled in for Trent Edwards and fumbled twice and was sacked 5 times. Owners have to think twice about holding a roster spot for either QB during the bye week because they do have a nice matchup against San Diego in Week 7. The winner of this week's sweepstakes to face the Lions: Gus Frerotte. Everyone, even Frerotte, is a good play versus Detroit. Injuries: : Brian Griese, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck

| RUNNING BACKS - Carolina split the running back touches almost down the middle in week 5. DeAngelo Williams had 20 carries for 123 yards and 2 TDs & Jonathan Stewart posted 19 carries for 72 yards. Both backs have a difficult test against Tampa Bay this week and they may receive less chances overall. Mewelde Moore filled in nicely for Pittsburgh carrying the ball 17 times for 99 yards, but Willie Parker is expected to return after the bye week. Ryan Grant had 18 carries for 83 yards in week 5. He gets to face the Seahawks this time out, a defense Brandon Jacobs shredded last week. Le'Ron McClain scored 4 TDs on the season, but he's more than a vulcher. He's averaging just over 15 carries per game and figures to still be used even though Willis McGahee appears ready to return to the featured role. The true vulcher is Tim Hightower. He only averages 7 carries a game, but has racked up 5 TDs. Both RBs have the potential to get more involved in the offense.Injuries: Selvin Young, Brian Westbrook, Laurence Maroney

| WIDE RECEIVERS - Bernard Berrian caught 6 passes for 110 yards and a TD on Monday night. He has another good match up against the Lions. The Vikings also anticipate Sidney Rice returning after he was scratched last week. There are rumblings Marques Colston may return this week. Even if he does, Lance Moore is still a nice option against Oakland. Devin Hester is taking advantage of Brandon Lloyd's absence and is steadily improving. Lloyd is out again this week, so Hester is a good play against Atlanta. Injuries: : Eddie Royal, Deion Branch, Anthony Gonzalez, Marques Colston

| TIGHT ENDS - Greg Olsen broke a 52 yard reception to finish at 87 yards on the day against Detroit. Tony Scheffler looks to have avoided the dreaded sports hernia, but he's still out for this week's contest. Surprisingly, the Saints are reporting that Jeremy Shockey has a slight shot to suit up this week. He probably won't be active, but he appears ready to return early. Kellen Winslow is questionable this week due to swollen testicles. You'd be questionable too. Injuries: Kellen Winslow

|
| KICKERS - Martin Gramatica hurt his groin so the Saints will turn to Taylor Mehlhaff. Still no update on the Carney-Tynes controversy. Carney hasn't done anything to lose the job; he's still the favorite until something goes wrong.

|
| DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS - The Patriots failed to post significant sack numbers against the 49ers and they won't have it any easier on the road again in San Diego. This time, the 49ers face the Eagles, who lead the league in sacks. Even if San Francisco holds tight again in the sack department, Philadelphia should have a fair amount of turnover opportunities. |
