Seeing a forlorn Tony Romo being led through the in-house
sports bar at Cowboys Stadium pretty much summed up Dallas’ entire season.
Depression.
If Dallas keeps losing, I see them sitting Romo for the rest
of the year. There’s simply no point to
rushing him back early. Frankly, I
dropped him outright and I doubt there will be much interest from other owners.
Like many of you, I own Romo in several leagues and I now
find myself scouring the waiver wire.
Here are some ideas.
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Dare I say that Fitzpatrick might be
this year’s Billy Volek? He sure looks
good, posting the second highest QB rating in the league. His schedule starts to toughen up later in
the year, but I’m going to try to squeeze a few starts out of him – he’ll be my
first waiver claim.
Matthew Stafford – Believe it or not, but Detroit has some
pretty impressive offensive targets.
Brandon Pettigrew, Tony Scheffler, Nate Burleson, and, of course,
Mega-Tron provide Stafford with a legitimate chance to post numbers.
Matt Cassel – Anyone have the feeling that Matt Cassel is
being asked to be a “game manager?” KC
runs first and they run well, I’d feel better with Fitzpatrick or Stafford
ahead of Cassel.
Vince Young – Hurt, hobbled, and he has a bye week. I’m not picking him up now, but I’m keeping
an eye on him because his schedule begins to lighten up right when Fitzpatrick
starts seeing more difficult matchups. |
