The past 2 weeks have left many owners reeling from
injury. Several fantasy stars went on
the shelf and, to make matters worse, most of the losses occurred at weak
positions. Seeing names like Dustin
Pedroia, Troy Tulowitzki, and Chase Utley is enough to make any owner sick.
You’re not going to find anyone on waivers to match the production of your
injured stud, but you can still work some hot streaks to chip away at the
loss. Here are several players that may
be available in your league to help soften the injury woes.
On the surface – These players probably show up at the top
of your 2B/SS waiver search. Both have
sufficient power, but their batting averages have been lagging.
Jose Lopez, Sea (2B, 3B) - .244-27-5-30-3
Sean Rodriguez, TB (2B, OF) - .260-27-5-28-6
A little deeper – These players have spent significant time
on the DL this season, so they may have slipped through the cracks.
Freddy Sanchez, SF (2B) - .299-18-1-19-0
Carlos Guillen, Det (OF, 2B, DH) - .287-19-5-21-1
Down deep – These players have starting jobs and are
thoroughly one-dimensional.
Cliff Pennington, Oak (SS) - .247-31-3-23-11
Orlando Cabrera, Cin (SS) - .246-35-3-30-10
