Like most Grady Sizemore owners, I am concerned.
I'm not the person to freak out over a .207 average through
the first month - I look for trends to give me some indication of a player's
ability to perform for the rest of the season.
There have been some encouraging signs with 5 RBI in the
past 5 games, but he's still without a homerun through 87 ABs. Compound that with the fact he has 8
strikeouts in the past 4 games, and, well, like I said - I'm concerned.
He's coming off multiple injuries so the power will take
some time to come along. And, like any
other professional, he's pressing. He's
trying to get back to form too quickly - ironically this is counterproductive.
I expected some struggles.
I really did. This year he was
mainly drafted in the 3rd round after being selected in the 1st
round in 2009 – so we were certainly anticipating some troubles.
I'm not going to sell low after 1 poor month. I might be stubborn, but I’m going to give
him some more time to work things out.
