QUARTERBACKS
Kyle
Orton sprained his ankle, so Chris Simms will face the Chargers this
Sunday. Simms went 3 for 13 in relief
of Orton and provides little positives for fantasy owners. Ryan Fitzpatrick is
officially the Bills starting QB after they fired Dick Jauron and benched Trent
Edwards. Find better options than the
Buffalo offense. Brady Quinn will remain under center for the Browns. He takes on a horrible Detroit defense that
even makes Quinn look like a QB2 this week.
Finally, the Raiders benched JaMarcus Russell in favor of Bruce
Gradkowski. Gradkowski is hardly the
answer, but neither is Russell.
RUNNING BACKS
This
week has brought on a slew of replacement running back activity. Cedric Benson will sit giving Bernard Scott
the chance to run over Oakland's weak rush defense. The Bengals signed Larry Johnson off waivers, but don't expect
more than a handful of carries. Brian Westbrook is out for the "next 3
games at least." LeSean McCoy
emerges as a strong RB2 as long a Westbrook is on the sidelines. Julius Jones will be inactive, so Justin
Forsett will butt heads with Minnesota's top-5 rush defense. He may not excel
this week, but he's a sleeper worth acquiring.
Both Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood are likely out this Sunday,
leaving Jason Snelling as Atlanta's starting tailback. Steve Slaton has regained his starting job,
but still expect Ryan Moats and Chris Brown to steal some opportunities. Maurice Jones-Drew pulled a "Westbrook"
and kneeled down at the 1-yard line so the Jags could run out the rest of the
clock for a Week 10 victory. MJD is an
adamant fantasy player and felt compelled to apologize to his owners after the
game. Rumor is, he owned himself and
lost by a couple of points - at least misery has company.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Roddy
White and Pierre Garcon are both listed as questionable, but are expected to
play. Fresh off of a 91-yard
performance, Dwayne Bowe was suspended for 4 games for using PEDs. Suddenly, Chris Chambers and the rest of the
Chiefs' rogue receiving corps get a little boost in value. They play Pittsburgh
this week, but the Steel Curtain is without Troy Polamalu. Devin Hester was targeted 14 times and
caught 7 passes for only 48 yards.
That's what happens when your QB gets picked off 5 times. Jason Avant exploded with 8 catches for 165
yards. He's quite inconsistent, but is
worth monitoring in case DeSean Jackson or Jeremy Machlin got injured. The Rams' Brandon Gibson emerged with 7
receptions for 93 yards in Week 10.
Donnie Avery found the end zone twice and is still St. Louis' primary
option, but Gibson can show value since they have become extremely thin at
wideout.
TIGHT ENDS
John
Carlson only caught one pass, but it was a 31-yard touchdown. Seattle's struggling ground game has forced
Carlson to block more often than fantasy owners would like to see. Vernon Davis
had one of his worst games totaling 16 yards on 3 catches. It was an off night and it's unlikely you
have better options going into Week 11.
It was a nice sign that Bo Scaife was targeted 6 times, but he only
hauled in 2 passes for 16 yards.
