QUARTERBACKS
Mark
Sanchez struggled mightily against the Bills throwing 5 picks and only 119
yards. He'll have an easier time
against Oakland, but remains a borderline QB2.Todd Collins took over for Jason
Campbell and completed 6 passes on 14 attempts for 75 yards. Jim Zorn appears to be readying both QBs for
possible action against Philadelphia on Monday night. Fantasy owners shouldn't even give the situation a second look. Jake Delhomme threw 2 more INTs against
Tampa Bay. He faces a banged-up Buffalo
squad that somehow managed to make Mark Sanchez's life hell last week. Ryan Fitzpatrick will captain the anemic
Bill offense this week over Trent Edwards.
He's shown the ability to throw deep a little more often, but he is a
low-impact QB at best.
RUNNING BACKS
Laurence
Maroney totaled 123 yards and a TD on 16 carries. The Pats backfield is decimated by injury, so Maroney will have
another chance to shine in London. You
might even see a little BenJarvus Green-Ellis if this turns into another
laugher for New England. Justin Fargas
did an admirable job filing in for Darren McFadden rushing for 87 yards, but he
shouldn't be on your radar with Jets next up.
Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell both had 15 carries against the Giants in
Week 6. Thomas had much more success
with 72 yards compared to 34 for Bell, but Bell was able to vulcher a goal line
TD. Matt Forte rushed for 23 yards and
a pitiful 1.5 yard/ave against Atlanta.
You still can't bench him (yet), but the Bengals are tougher against the
run than one might think. Jonathan Stewart
will play this week versus Buffalo and is worth a look as a bye week
replacement against the NFL's worst ranked rush defense.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Sidney
Rice had 6 receptions for a whopping 176 yards in Sunday's win over the
Ravens. He developed a clear rapport with
Brett Favre so he has the potential to develop into an every-week WR3 with big
play potential. Hakeem Nicks caught 5
passes for 114 yards against the Saints.
Nicks' emergence can threaten some of Mario Manningham's targets, but
both need to be started against Arizona Sunday night. Lance Moore racked up 78 yards and a TD last week. He's a decent WR3 while healthy, but, as you
all know, that's the problem. Julian
Edelman has a broken arm and Joey Galloway was recently cut, so Sam Aiken looks
like New England’s 3rd option. Anquan
Boldin suffered a high-ankle sprain, but he says he's ready for Sunday
night. It appears that he will start,
but try to find a healthier option in case he can't play through the pain. Anthony Gonzalez won't return this week. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie deserve
another start versus the lowly Rams.
TIGHT ENDS
Zach
Miller busted out with 6 receptions for 139 yards and a TD. He's very talented and it's nice to see
signs of life, but I'm not buying resurgence as long as JaMarcus Russell in
under center. Heath Miller continues to
bring smiles to fantasy owners' faces with an 80-yard 1 TD performance in week
6. Minnesota's tough run defense might
force Pittsburgh to once again lean heavily on Miller in goal line
situations. Kellen Winslow came back to
earth with a 3 catch, 29-yard performance against Carolina. The Pats match up well against tight ends
and should make life equally difficult for Winslow in Week 7.
