A viral infection caused Joe Mauer to land on the 15-day DL.  We're uncertain if this is good news, since nasty viruses can take their toll on anyone.  But, the vibe out of Minnesota is somewhat positive because the cause of his fatigue was previously a mystery.  Mauer has lost 15-20 pounds and he clearly needs some time on the shelf to get healthy, but that is no comfort to his owners.  There’s not much to pick from in terms of a replacement - you'll never equal Mauer's value - but you got to do something to take some of the sting out of the loss.  We would like to avoid platoon situations, but in leagues that require 2 catchers, it's a lot harder to accomplish.

Yadier Molina - STL

John Buck - FLA

We would slightly favor Suzuki over Molina, but it's a matter of what category you are looking fill - power or average.

Platoon Catchers

Wilson Ramos - WAS

Alex Avila - DET

Ramon Hernandez - CIN

Ryan Hanigan - CIN

Wilson Ramos is the best catcher on Washington's roster, you just have wonder when management will allow him to start everyday.  Alex Avila sits against lefties, but has produced when in the lineup.  Hernandez and Hanigan appear to one in the same with Hernandez getting slightly more playing time.
