We were more worried about Longoria’s tendency to slow
down near the end of the season, but the early oblique injury can cause owners
even more of a headache. There’s a good
chance you selected Longoria with the thought, “ I have third base covered, no
need to back it up.” Now, you find
yourself scrambling, trying to find a replacement. If you don’t have any options already rostered, go back to your
cheat sheet and see if there are any viable candidates still available.
Depending on the size of your league, some of these options
might not be on the waiver wire, but you may discover a short-term stopgap
option.
Potential Options:
Scott Rolen & David Freese: Always start with players
who receive playing time.
Jose Lopez: Playing
in Colorado doesn’t hurt either.
Maicer Izturis- A stopgap, yes indeed.
Danny Valencia & Chris Johnson: Both are off to slow
starts, but they have potential.
